My real name is Elaine, although most know me online by my nickname "Valerian". I've been involved in the alternative/punk/Goth scene since 1983, and have been an artist since I was old enough to grip a solid object. I design costume jewelry, hats, and handbags with a dark, romantic, vintage-flavoured Victorian Gothic flair, as well as paint stylized portraits of the alternative nightlife scene. In fact you could genuinely describe me as having one foot in the 19th century, and one in the 21st. What started out as a love of art history and portrait painting evolved into historically-influenced fashion with a dark modern edge.
